"One day when the cold north wind did blow,
my dad said to me,son you know,
it's time for you to be what you will be.
Now I don't care just what you do,
but I'm a sailor through and through,
wouldn't you like to be a son of the sea?
A son of the sea like me my son,a son of the
sea like me my son,wouldn't you like to be a son of the sea?
Before you settle down and take a wife,
Put some adventure in your life,and do just what a man was born to do.
There's many a girl in many a place,
will put a smile upon your face,
when she sees that you're a boy in blue.

A farmers life I'm sure is grand,
but you can't sail a ship on land,
or feel the ocean waves beneath your feet.
A wandering heart is bound to roam,
and though I love the sight of home,
the call of the open sea is twice as sweet.

All that was many years ago,
now when the cold north wind does blow,
I remember what my daddy said to me.
For every word he said was true,
now here I am a boy in blue,
for I was born to be a son of the sea.
