A TRAGIC LITTLE TALE(Not about grandfather/longcase/tallcase clocks  (July 2006)
Once upon a time,a long while ago, back in the 19th.century,there lived seven brothers named White.Their first names were Ted,Albert,Joe,
Walt,Martin,ZoopZoop and Richard.
All of the brothers were expert mountain climbers and their sole ambition was to be the first seven brothers to climb Mount Everest at the same time,so one day, wagging their tales behind them, they set off for the Himalayas.
Upon arrival, they wasted no time and immediately commenced their ascent.Everything was going fine until they got three quarters of the way up the mountain and then they all started gasping for breath and were in serious trouble. When all seemed lost, they suddenly saw a small figure all dressed in white, coming towards them.
"Hello boys",he said,"My name is Rupert the snow dwarf and I have come to save you".
"You cannot save us" replied the brothers,"You are too small,we need Bigfoot".
"There are no Bigfeet" said Rupert "They do not exist, there is only me,Rupert the Snow Dwarf,I am the one who does all the saving around here .I will take you back down the mountain two thousand feet, and then you can set up a new camp and call it "Virgin".
"That is a funny name for a camp" replied the brothers,"Why should we call it "Virgin?"
"I am not entirely certain, Said Rupert,"but verily I say unto you,I have this feeling that in the future almost everything will be called "Virgin" even Big Betty from Barney's Bar.Anyway, enough talk now, follow me and do exactly as I do" and off he set with the seven brothers closely behind him.The mists soon closed in and before long,Rupert could hardly see where he was going. All at once a small hole appeared in front of him.It was only two feet across and Rupert thought he could easily jump over it.This was his first and last mistake, for the rest of the hole which was actually 20 feet wide was covered in overhanging snow and could not be seen.
As he jumped ,he went straight through the snow, and the brothers following behind and not being able to see that well either, did exactly the same and all eight of them plummeted to the depths below.
There are stories told that as the last brother,Walt, fell through the snow,he uttered
a cry "This is not over!",but I think it was,and that is the end of this tragic little tale, for as far as I am aware,Snow Dwarf and the Seven Whites were never heard of again.
"That's all folks!"
