<< July 2008 | poems index | clock poem | September 2008 >>MUCK AND BULLETS(no grandfather clocks) (August 2008)When I was younger, I enjoyed two favourite past times,reading and fishing.I spent many happy hours with my line in the water and reading the contents of a good book at the same time.
One day while I was idling away at the seaside, an elderly gentleman approached me and asked if I often read books and fished in unison.When said that I did,he advised that for every fish I caught that day,he would supply me with an equal number of books.I thanked him kindly and then proceeded to have a most successful day in which I read a lot and lured many fish onto my line. As night time fell,I was up to my neck in books and mullet.
