so we sought the city lights,
and drifted away to London town.
Just to help ourselves along,
wrote a bagful of songs,
thought that we'd bring all the houses down.
It was such a lovely plan,
'til we saw the music man,
and then to our distress and our dismay.
He said"I've stuff like this galore,and it's
all been done before."
So we caried our load down the Portobello road.
We were not to be outdone,
and just for a bit of fun,
decided to have a bash at clothes.
So up the town we strode,
took a walk along Kings Road,
thought that we could make a better job than those.
It was such a lovely plan,
'til we saw the taylor man,
and then to our distress and our dismay.
He said"I've stuff like this galore,
and it's all been done before."
So we carried our load down the Portbello Road
For our final little fling,
we said "Comedy's the thing,
they're looking for fresh talent all the time"
And our jokes were really slick,
boy we laughed 'til we were sick,
the ladder of success we'd surely climb.
It was such a lovely plan,
'til we saw the funny man,
and then to our distress and our dismay.

So we carried our load down the Portobello Road.
